Assistant Professor of Literature (rank negotiable) 

The Pontifical College Josephinum is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Professor of Literature in the College of Liberal Arts, beginning in fall 2024. An ideal candidate will possess a completed doctorate (PhD) in literature or an associated area and exhibit a strong commitment to Catholic higher education. The candidate must be able to teach broad literature survey courses, writing and composition, and offer electives at the 300 to 400 course code level. The expected teaching load will be six courses annually. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the overall formation program through membership on various committees according to his/her interests and the needs of the seminary.

About the Josephinum:

The Pontifical College Josephinum, founded in 1888 and located on a beautiful campus north of downtown Columbus, OH, is a national and pontifical Catholic seminary. Its College of Liberal Arts offers undergraduate degrees in philosophy and humanities as well as a two-year pre-theology program offering a certificate or a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. The Josephinum School of Theology offers a Master of Divinity and a pre-doctoral Master of Arts in Theology, as well as a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree (STB) through affiliation with the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.

The Josephinum is overseen by the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, who serves as Chancellor, and ultimately by the Dicastery for Clergy in Rome. For many decades, the seminary has offered programs recognized for academic excellence and conformity to the standards of priestly formation promulgated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and approved by the Holy See.
