Position Summary:   DAYTIME CUSTODIAN 

St. Charles is seeking a proactive and principled individual as a full time Custodian.  Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for this job. The Custodian oversees a clean and safe working environment for all staff and visitors by personally performing the following essential job responsibilities:

 Primary Role and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes floors and maintains and cleans scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Dust and wash walls, cleans ceilings and light fixtures.  Washes windows.  Washes blinds.
• Cleans bathrooms, refill soap dispensers, toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, and floors in all restroom areas.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, tables, chairs, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
• Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, floors, and desks using chemicals and cleaning solution.
• May also sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform seasonal tasks.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners.
• Regular attendance and punctuality is essential for this job.

 Qualifications:

• Compliance with BCI/FBI background checks and have attended or be willing to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training
• Frequent movement about the school campus to complete the essential job responsibilities outlined above.
• The ability to be a team player and have harmonious relationship skills when dealing with co-workers and other employees, families, and the general public.
• A Physical Demands Strength Rating (which reflects the estimated overall strength requirement of the job and represents the strength requirements, which are important for average, successful work performance) is for Heavy Work:  Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly, to move objects. Physical demand requirements are more than those for Medium Work.
